The hotel was the main building in Barrytown, from what I could see. It looked as if there might have been about ten buildings in total (but I'm assured the actual number was more like nineteen). The hotel doubled as the local pub, which is pretty common in small towns in New Zealand. Unfortunately this meant dealing with drunks at 2AM, but that was probably preferable to an entire Kiwi Experience bus at some other, more popular location.
Barrytown had been nicknamed "Baz Vegas" at some point, and was the generally-acknowledged Pub Night stop on the bus route down to Queenstown. I took plenty of pictures of that revelry as well as the early-morning shot posted above, but as the chalkboard by the bar said, "what happens in Barrytown stays in Barrytown".
